Count Sergei Fedorov in for the Hockeytown Winter Festival.
The former Red Wing will take part in the Alumni Showdown on New Year’s Eve at Comerica Park between ex-Maple Leafs and Red Wings players, the Red Wings announced Wednesday. The game is part of the Hockeytown Winter Festival festivities leading up to the Red Wings-Maple Leafs Winter Classic game on New Year’s Day at Michigan Stadium.
Fedorov rejoins his fellow Russian countrymen that comprised the Red Wings’ famed “Russian Five” line, which he centered between right wing Igor Larionov and left wing Vyacheslav Kozlov, with defensemen Viacheslav Fetisov and Vladimir Konstantinov, who is slated to appear as a special guest.
Fedorov, 43, was the 1994 Hart Trophy winner when he scored 120 points (56 goals, 64 assists) in 82 games.
Fedorov came out of the retirement last month to play for CSKA Moscow of the Kontinential Hockey League. He is general manager of the team as well.
