Mount Clemens — The Macomb County Circuit Court Building has reopened after being temporarily closed Thursday morning after a caller made a bomb threat.
Sheriff’s employees evacuated the building located at 40 N. Main St. shortly after 8 a.m. when someone called the courthouse three times to say there was a bomb in the building, Macomb County Sheriff’s spokesman Lt. John Michalke said.
The sheriff’s K-9 unit was sent into the building to search for any potential threats. Forty inmates taken to the courthouse for court hearings being held in a basement lockup area were taken back to the jail.
The building was determined to be safe at 12:35 p.m. Thursday.
