Sterling Heights— Police are investigating robberies at two Sterling Heights jewelry stores this week.
Lt. Luke Riley of the Sterling Heights Police Department said the first theft took place Monday at Dominic’s Jewelry on Lakeside Circle.
A man and woman entered Dominic’s, asking to see an engagement ring. The clerk removed one from the display case and then the suspects asked to see a second ring. When the clerk removed the second ring from the display case, the man grabbed it. The suspects fled the store and were last seen driving from the parking lot in a white vehicle.
The stolen item is a white gold and diamond engagement ring set.
The male suspect is described as being of a medium build and height. He was wearing a black stocking cap and a light colored jacket with R.I.P. POOBIE CBMRBM on the back. The woman is also described as being of medium height and build, wearing a dark colored hooded jacket, blue jeans and knee high black boots.
Riley said on Wednesday, two rings were stolen from Zales Jewelry in Lakeside Mall.
Two men entered the store and started talking with clerks.
One of the suspects asked to see a diamond ring, and then asked to see a second.
The clerk took out the second ring from the display case and began reaching for the first, when the subject grabbed the second ring out of the clerk’s hand. Both men fled from the store and exited the mall through Macy’s.
The stolen items are a 1.5 karat round brilliant cut diamond in white gold setting with six prongs while the second is 1 karat Celebration brand ring set with round ideal cut diamond with four prongs.
The first suspect is described as 6 feet 4 inches tall, 275 pounds and wearing a black hat with red bill and black jogging suit with red trim. The second suspect is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, 175 pounds with short cropped hair, wearing a gray fleece jacket with black shoulders and blue jeans.
