Evanston, Ill. – Michigan State will be without senior Adreian Payne for the second straight game when the fourth-ranked Spartans take on Northwestern Wednesday night.
Payne did not play on Saturday against Minnesota because of a sprained right foot and was still in a walking boot at Welsh-Ryan Arena during warm-ups. Coach Tom Izzo said earlier this week he would not rush Payne back just to secure another win and would wait until he was 100 percent.
Branden Dawson, who was diagnosed with a virus on Monday, will not start but is expected to play.
