Welcome to ďAsk Us,Ē a new weekly feature where The Detroit News entertainment staff will answer your questions about Metro Detroit dining, music, art, movies and more.
Have a question about where to eat or how to spend a night out? Send it to email@example.com.
Q. Do you know anywhere to get good cod in the Dearborn or Downriver area? Fergieís closed and I havenít found any since.
A. I canít vouch for it, but Mr. Fish and Chicken, a carry-out and delivery only place at 1071 Fort in Lincoln Park, is not far from the Fergieís location. Call (313) 388-7777.
Venture a little farther away, just north of Dearborn Heights, and you can find fish and chips bliss at Scotty Simpsonís, a longstanding diner specializing in the iconic dish. They use a 60-year-old recipe thatís been delighting Metro Detroiters for generations, and the restaurant is widely considered among critics (including Detroit News restaurant reviewer Molly Abraham) to be the best fish and chips purveyor in the area.
Opened in 1950 at 22200 Fenkell in Detroit, Scotty Simpsonís serves lunch and dinner Tuesday-Sunday. Check out scottysfishandchips.com for hours and the menu.
