One good tip
Eating breakfast every morning is key to a healthy lifestyle, and if you’re looking for a quick, nourishing breakfast instead of cereal, eggs are the way to go. To make a hot breakfast instantly, coat a 12-ounce mug with cooking spray, add 2 eggs and 2 tablespoons milk, salt and pepper and blend with fork. Microwave on high 45 seconds, stir and microwave for additional 30-45 seconds longer. Top with 2 tablespoons cheese if desired.
One good book
Rosedale Park native and author Bill Loomis goes behind the graffiti and ruins of Detroit to explore how the passion for eating well is proving essential to Detroit’s comeback. Old neighborhoods are coming back to life with the smell of simmering soup, the crunch of new pickles and the aroma of all-day barbecue while magnificently restored Art Deco clubs are busy serving great local food. Loomis explores these flavors in “Detroit Food.” It will be available Jan. 28 at historypress.net and select bookstores in February. It also is available as an eBook.
