State police investigators say a motorist killed in a car crash on M-14 in Plymouth Township on Thursday was not wearing a seat belt and speed was a factor in the death.
The motorist lost control of a Toyota Prius traveling eastbound on M-14 just before noon, according to a release from the Michigan State Police. The vehicle drove into a ditch, overturned several times and the driver was ejected from the vehicle.
The motorist, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at Botsford Hospital.
MSP officials did not say whether the weather was a factor in the crash, but roads were slick midday Thursday as a new blanket of snow started to fall.
The freeway was closed at Sheldon Road at noon. Lanes were expected to reopen by 3 p.m.
The MSP said alcohol did not appear to be a factor. No other vehicles were involved.
