“Outta my mind on a Saturday moanin’”
After broadcasting Monday and Tuesday from the press days of the 2014 North American International Auto Show, surrounded by well over 5,000 reporters from around the world and then with thousands of (very proud) suppliers Wednesday and Thursday at the industry preview days, all of the excitement and hoopla of having a sitting Vice President of the United States in town eating at Janet Sossi Belcoure’s Roma Cafe in Eastern Market with Mayor Mike Duggan and then Detroit Regional Chamber President & CEO scheduled to introduce Vice President Biden to an invited audience at the Auto Show Thursday morning and an incredibly successful charity preview with thousands of folks raising over $5,000,000 dollars for local children’s charities and enjoying the cars as the stars with a little Sheryl Crow thrown in for good measure, and then the all new Studio 25 presented by Dan Gilbert’s Opportunity Detroit afterparty in the beautiful new grand ballroom and several other parties at a variety of other notable locations around town...it’s been a wild start to the auto show.
And that’s just the beginning!
Today the real (and very important) fun begins!
Today, the public show begins and runs till Jan. 26.
More good news:
Congratulations to George Zimmerman, VP of Travel Michigan (part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation) Dave Lorenz (you also hear on WJR Radio) and the whole Pure Michigan team as they were once again honored as their (our) Michigan.org was the most visited state tourism website in the country.
The independent online measurement company Experian Hitwise has now bestowed that honor to www.michigan.org seven years in a row.
In addition to the 9 million web visits, consumers used the site an average of nearly 25,000 times per day.
Paul W. Smith is host of The Paul W. Smith Show on WJR-AM (760).
