East Lansing – Michigan State is closer to getting Adreian Payne back in the lineup, but the Spartans are still planning on not having the senior forward on Tuesday against Indiana.
Coach Tom Izzo called him doubtful during his weekly press conference on Monday and said Payne had been doing some light running and would test his sprained right foot later in the day to see where he stood.
“He’s sort of day-to-day,” Izzo said, “but I’d say doubtful for (Tuesday). … We’re preparing like we won’t have him.”
Payne has missed the last three games, though it hasn’t slowed No. 3 Michigan State, which has won 10 straight games and is perfect in conference play.
After the Spartans (17-1, 6-0 Big Ten) host Indiana on Tuesday, they welcome No. 21 Michigan on Saturday.
