Top five games this week
Grand Blanc (6-1) at Howell (7-2), 7 p.m. Tuesday: Normally this would be a fine matchup in football. Howell has surprised many and is tied for first place with Grand Blanc in the KLAA West Division at 3-0.
Holland (7-0) at East Kentwood (5-2), 7 p.m. Tuesday: East Kentwood is primed to pull off the upset here. One of its losses was at No. 2-ranked Muskegon, 69-63. It has won four straight by an average margin of 21.5.
Romeo (7-1) at Utica Eisenhower (7-0), 7 p.m. Wednesday: Drew Cushingberry leads Romeo in almost every statistical category but he and his teammates face perhaps the best team in the MAC Red Division on the road. With a victory Romeo would move into a tie with Eisenhower for first place.
Bloomfield Hills (7-1) at North Farmington (7-1), 7 p.m. Thursday: Both teams are 3-1 in the OAA Red Division and chasing Clarkston (4-0) for the division title. The game also features two of Oakland County’s top players, 6-8 Yante Maten of Bloomfield Hills and 6-7 Jeron Rogers of North Farmington.
Detroit Pershing (9-1) at Detroit Cass Tech (7-1), 4 p.m. Friday: This could be for first place in the PSL Division 1. Both teams are undefeated in division play but Cass Tech does have to travel to Detroit Douglass (5-4, 3-0 PSL Division 1) on Tuesday.

Grand Ledge 60, Lansing Eastern 58: Cassell Jones’ basket as time expired gave Grand Ledge (5-2) the victory. Malik Adams scored 21 points and Jones had 16 for Grand Ledge. Dre Dentmond of Eastern (4-4) scored 11 of his 16 in the fourth quarter and his basket with 15 seconds left tied the game at 58-58.
Muskegon 88, Saginaw Arthur Hill 78: In the marquee game of the Floyd Mayweather Classic held in Grand Rapids on Saturday, Deshaun Thrower had 32 points to lead Muskegon (8-0), ranked No. 2 in Class A. Deyonta Davis added 16 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks. Eric Davis scored 31 for Arthur Hill (6-2), ranked No. 6.
Okemos 55, Holt 50: Edward Smith scored 16 points and Conner George (15 rebounds) went 4-of-4 from the free throw line in the final 40 seconds as Okemos (5-4) upset No. 5-ranked Holt (7-1). Smith and George teamed to make 15 of 17 from the line in the second half. Holt was 15-for-27 from the line. Don’Quell Jackson led Holt with 13 points.
Saginaw Valley Lutheran 65, Ithaca 64 (OT): Rylan Appold (22 points) made two free throws with five seconds left in overtime to give Lutheran (8-1), ranked No. 5 in Class C, the victory. Lutheran trailed 23-8 after the first quarter, then led 38-35 at halftime. Logan Hessbrook led Ithaca (4-3) with 19 points.
Ypsilanti 48, Temperance Bedford 47: Jaylen Johnson (six points, three blocks) made two free throws with 5.8 seconds left to give Ypsilanti (6-2), ranked No. 3 in Class A, a 48-45 lead. Corey Allen led Ypsilanti with 14 points and Jalen Harmon added 10 points and seven rebounds. Jeremy Harris led Bedford (4-2) with 16 points and five rebounds.
