Years before the cone bras, the paparazzi, the marriages and the children, Michigan native Madonna was just a struggling artist in New York City. At that time, she befriended fellow artist Martin Burgoyne, a Studio 54 bartender who was instrumental in the Material Girl’s early success, having managed her first tour. Only 23 years old, Burgoyne died of AIDS in the mid ’80s. His parents have kept his collection of memorabilia from his years as Madonna’s best friend under wraps until now. The collection — which includes a portrait of Burgoyne hand-drawn by Andy Warhol and several photos of Madonna with and taken by Burgoyne — will be up for auction on Feb. 9 at Myers Fine Art in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Ke$ha asks fans for teeth, rehab center says no
While being treated for an eating disorder, pop singer Ke$ha tweeted to her 3.5 million followers that she’d like them to send her their teeth for an art project she’s working on. The treatment center put the kibosh on that, though, telling TMZ they cannot accept any kind of human remains because of bio-hazard risk. Fake teeth are OK, though. The “Timber” singer is known for making jewelry and clothing with teeth.
