Detroit — An early morning suspicious fire at a Detroit motel has forced the evacuation of about two dozen people on the city’s west side with no reported injuries.
According to WDIV-TV (Channel 4), the Friday fire occurred at the Victory Inns & Suites, located in the 17770 block of Telegraph Road, in an area south of Grand River Avenue and north of McNichols Road.
According to reports the fire started in one unit and spread quickly. Investigators say the fire appeared to be deliberately set by a man who was in a dispute with another guest.
Fire officials say the blaze was quickly contained but many rooms suffered smoke damage.
