Chrysler Group LLC has tapped legendary folk singer Bob Dylan to star in its main Super Bowl ad this year, according to a report in Billboard magazine.
“Dylan will star in a new commercial for Chrysler, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the campaign, as the latest in the automaker’s series of cinematic Super Bowl ads that have starred Eminem, Clint Eastwood and Berry Gordy in recent years,” the music industry magazine reported Wednesday. “An as-yet-unidentified track from Dylan’s catalog will provide the soundtrack for the commercial.”
Representatives for both the Auburn Hills automaker and the artist declined to comment, Billboard said.
Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne confirmed earlier this month that his company would once again have at least one major spot airing during the game and hinted that it would showcase the new 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan.
The company’s first high-profile spot featured Detroit rapper Eminem driving the previous version of the Chrysler 200.
“We had the right ad, but the wrong car,” Marchionne told reporters at the North American International Auto Show. “Now we have the right car.”
