Q. Iím looking for a place in the Ferndale or Royal Oak area that has karaoke, but is family-friendly.
A. When most people think karaoke, liquid courage comes to mind. While the majority of karaoke is done in bars where those younger than 21 are not allowed, we did find a family-friendly option in Madison Heights.
Fuji Japanese Buffet, at 32153 John R, offers private karaoke rooms for family parties. Itís not the same as performing for a room full of strangers, but itís one of the few scenarios where children of all ages are welcome. Fuji has a smaller room that can fit around 14 people and a large space for groups of around 75. All they ask is you give them 24-hours notice. Call them at (248) 616-8868.
As far as Asian buffets go, Fuji is one of our favorites. Besides dim sum, American-style Chinese food, a salad bar and crab legs, they continuously make fresh sushi. Fuji also has a full bar loaded with beers from around the world, fruity cocktails and a good selection of sake and soju (a Korean distilled beverage).
