The Juggalos have found a new spot to Gather: in central Missouri.
This year’s Gathering of the Juggalos festival will be held Aug. 6-9 at Harlequin Park in Kaiser, Mo., about a three-hour drive west of St. Louis. Tickets for the annual Insane Clown Posse fan festival go on sale Feb. 7 at juggalogathering.com, and more information on this year’s fest is due to be unveiled on that date.
ICP, which is currently embroiled in a legal battle with the FBI over its classification of the group’s fans as a “loosely organized hybrid gang,” has held its notorious annual event at Hog Rock Campground in Cave-in-Rock, Ill., since 2007. But last year’s fest was marred by financial issues after several vendors complained they weren’t paid for their services. The amount owed exceeded $300,000, one vendor told reporters at the conclusion of last year’s event.
The group announced in November it was seeking a new location for its fest, which draws around 10,000 fans annually. Prior to Cave-in-Rock, the event was held at sites in Garrettsville, Ohio, Peoria, Ill., Pataskala, Ohio, and Toledo. The first Gathering of the Juggalos was held at the Novi Expo Center in 2000.
A post on ICP’s website announcing the new location boasted of amenities hard to come by at the remote Cave-in-Rock, including, “CELL PHONE RECEPTION! NEARBY HOTELS! NEARBY STORES! ACTUAL (expletive deleted) CIVILIZATION!”
At a press conference last month, ICP announced it was suing the Justice Department and the FBI over the FBI’s tagging of Juggalos as a gang.
