Troy — Three Clawson High teenagers who allegedly sexually assaulted a 15-year-old female student at the school, videotaped the attack and bragged about it with other students were back in court on Tuesday.
Terry D. Watts, 18, and Travion T. Watkins, 17, both of Pontiac, and Kheimoni Slaton, 17, of Clawson are each charged as adults with third-degree criminal sexual conduct, a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison, in the Oct. 9 incident.
Not guilty pleas were entered on their behalf at their arraignment Friday. A preliminary exam on charges was scheduled Tuesday for March 14 before Troy 52-4 District Judge Kirsten Nielsen-Hartig.
The girl and the suspects all attended Clawson High, police said. The girl has stopped going to classes since the incident and the suspects have all been removed pending the criminal investigation.
Police learned of the girl’s alleged assault after other students said they viewed a video of it on one of the suspect’s cellphones. The incidents took place at a home on Kinross Street, near 14 Mile and Crooks, where one of the suspects was living, according to the victim.
The three suspects allegedly boasted of the incident and showed the cellphone video to other students at school until someone reported it to officials about a week after the incident.
Clawson police went to the school and took the three suspects into custody but one had deleted the video from his cellphone. The phone was examined at the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and the believed erased images were recovered, police said.
