Madison, Wis. — Senior guard Keith Appling did not play for the second straight game Sunday as No. 9 Michigan State lost to Wisconsin, 60-58.
Appling sat out Thursday’s game against Penn State with a sore right wrist, the first time he has missed a game in his Michigan State career. He made the trip with the Spartans to Madison but was not dressed for the game.
The Spartans, who have used 13 different starting lineups this season, had senior forward Adreian Payne for the second straight game. He played Thursday after missing seven straight games with a sprained right foot.
Michigan State (20-3, 9-1 Big Ten) entered the game having won five straight over Wisconsin (18-5, 5-5), including two in a row at Kohl Center.
