Broadcaster Jim Price makes fantasy campers' dreams come true

Gage’s 140 from Lakeland (words, not characters)

He’s carved out a niche as a Tigers broadcaster, that’s for sure.

Jim Price was at Joker Marchant Stadium on Wednesday, ready for another season as Dan Dickerson’s partner in the radio booth.

To a large extent, however, Price’s season began with the Tigers’ fantasy camps last month.

“All broadcasters have their own sayings,” Price said, “and I guess I have mine.”

Which means?

“A lot of fantasy campers want me to say just two things about them: that they’re from a ‘nice area’ and that whatever they throw has ‘late movement.’

“One camper wanted me to say he had late movement even though his pitches didn’t make it to the plate.

“But he loved it.”

Betcha he loved the fact he was from “a nice area,” too.

“He did,” said Price.

Funny what can make somebody’s day, isn’t it?
