Detroit — Police are investigating the death of a man who was killed while crossing a busy section of Woodward late Thursday night.
The incident occurred at 11:40 p.m. on Woodward near Mack Avenue, according to Sgt. Michael Woody of the Detroit Police Department.
“The victim, a black male age 58, was crossing the street against the red light and was hit by a blue 2004 Toyota Matrix four-door,” Woody said. “The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene. The victim was dead on arrival at a local hospital. This is being treated as a pedestrian death, not as a hit and run.”
Meanwhile, police are still investigating a fatal hit-and-run that occurred on Feb. 7 on the east side of the city.
The body of an unidentified man was found at about 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Chalmers and Kercheval on the city’s east side. The victim was dead when EMS personnel arrived at the scene.
Police are still searching for the driver involved in the incident.
