Saturday's Big Ten hockey roundup: No. 2 Minnesota sweeps No. 10 Michigan

Michiganís Andrew Sinelli scored his first goal of the season but then No. 2 Minnesota erupted for four unanswered goals as the Gophers defeated the 10th-ranked Wolverines, 4-1, Saturday at Mariucci Arena in Big Ten hockey.

The victory completed a two-game sweep for Minnesota, which defeated U-M, 5-3, Friday.

Sam Warning, Connor Reilly, Nate Condon and Hudson Fasching (power play) scored for the Gophers (21-4-5, 10-2-2 Big Ten). Adam Wilcox made 28 saves in the Minnesota net.

Sinelli scored 1:31 into the game with Zach Hyman and Boo Nieves assisting. Warningís goal tied the game with 2:14 left in the first period.

Steve Racine made 20 saves for the Wolverines (14-9-3, 6-5-1-1), who have lost three straight including a 4-0 setback at Penn State Feb. 8.

Michigan State 2, (at) Penn State 1: Matt Berry scored the game-winning goal with 5:04 left to lift the Spartans over the Nittany Lions, capping the two-game road trip on a winning note. MSU (9-13-7, 3-5-6) won in a shootout after the Big Ten rivals finished in a 1-1 stalemate Friday. MSUís Joe Cox scored at 10:19 in the second period to tie the game after Patrick Koudys staked Penn State (5-19-2, 1-10-1) to a one-goal lead in the first.

No. 8 Wisconsin 4, (at) Ohio State 2: Mark Zengerle scored twice, including the game-winner, as the Badgers (17-9-2, 8-5-1) defeated the Buckeyes to earn a split on the road. Nick Schilkey (Marysville) scored a goal for Ohio State (15-10-3, 5-6-3-2). Wisconsin hosts Michigan State this weekend.
