A man walking down the street in Inkster was shot Saturday morning after a car pulled up near him at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and John Daly Street, police said.
Witnesses reported that the man exchanged words with the occupants of a red Volkswagen sedan before the shooting at 10:20 a.m., said Michigan State Police Lt. Michael Shaw. The man is in stable condition at a local hospital.
Police spotted the vehicle Saturday night and attempted to stop the driver when he drove away from police. During the pursuit, the Volkswagen struck another car that was southbound on Middle Belt Road at Michigan Avenue. That driver was uninjured.
An 18-year-old male from Inkster ran from the Volkswagen but was arrested a short time later in by the state troopers. The man was arrested in connection with the shooting, police said.
The Wayne County Prosecutorís Office is investigating. Police are still looking for a second suspect involved in the shooting.
