Tigers spring training 'truly' gets under way

Spring training doesn't begin, some say, until the entire team with all its extra guys and all its invitees is out on the practice diamonds.

If it's a perfect weather day, so much the better for what people envision spring training to be.

Well, it was a perfect weather day here Tuesday morning 70 degrees and sunny by 10 a.m. when the Tigers began their first full workout of the spring.

And, yes, everyone was on hand including minor-league managers and coaches.

That included Larry Parrish, who'll manage Triple A Toledo.

That also meant Lance Parrish, back in the organization as Double A Erie's manager.

And because all the players were here, more fans were here.

A week of pitchers and catchers serves its purpose. But the real feel of spring training finally has begun.
