Good Stuff: Chocolate party, presidential cocktail, casserole tip

One good event

One good cocktail

February isn’t just about Valentine’s Day; consider our forefathers, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, whose birthdays are also celebrated in this very cold and short month. Tito’s Handmade Vodka out of Austin, Texas, heralded by the country’s top bartenders and mixologists as one of the smoothest expressions of the spirit, has concocted the perfect cocktail for toasting these two great presidents. Check out this Berry American cocktail created by Natalie Paramore.com’s Food Fetish exclusively for Tito’s.

Berry American

Combine 1 ½ cups diced strawberries and ¼ cup fresh blueberries in a blender and whirl. Pour a shot of Tito’s over ice in cocktail glass, add berry mixture

and a squeeze of fresh lime and stir. Makes 1 cocktail.

One good tip

Looking for a crisp crust on that casserole before taking it to the potluck? Place a paper towel or clean dish towel on the top of the dish before wrapping it tightly in foil. The steam from the dish is absorbed by the towel and keeps moisture from condensing back onto the casserole.
