After leading Michigan to a season sweep of Michigan State, sophomore Nik Stauskas was named the Big Ten player of the week Monday.
Stauskas had 25 points — including 21 in the second half — in Sunday’s 79-70 win over MSU at Crisler Center.
Stauskas shot 9-of-13 from the field and 3-of-5 on 3-pointers; he helped the second-half surge with 16 of U-M’s first 20 points after halftime.
It’s the 10th time this season that Stauskas has eclipsed the 20-point mark and the first time since he tied his career best with 26 against Iowa on Jan. 22.
Stauskas is averaging 17 points and 3.4 rebounds this season and is one of the leading candidates for Big Ten player of the year.
Michigan has a half-game lead over Michigan State with four games left in the regular season. Michigan plays at Purdue on Wednesday and hosts Minnesota on Saturday.
