City worker sent to hospital after injury during sewer work on Detroit's east side

A Detroit Water and Sewerage Department worker was injured Wednesday afternoon when he was struck by a high-pressure hose, officials said.

A crew was working on a sewer issue at Glenwood and Queen on the citys east side when a hose struck the worker in his waist area, said Greg Eno, department spokesman.

The man was taken to St. John Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Eno said the department will determine if the incident was caused by a mechanical issue or human error.
