A man was shot on the city’s west side Thursday, Detroit police said.
Around 7:45 p.m. the man was shot in the leg while on a porch in the 15800 block of Asbury Park at Pilgrim. He was privately taken to a local hospital, said Officer Adam Madera. His condition was unknown.
No further details were immediately available.
The shooting is the latest in a wave of violence in the city since Memorial Day weekend, where 36 shootings and four slayings were reported.
As of Wednesday, shootings in Detroit were down 15 percent from the same period last year, from 425 to 361. Overall violent crime was down 10 percent.
