Pontiac man, 23, charged in shooting of 2

Pontiac — A Pontiac man has been arrested and charged in two of three shootings last week at an apartment complex in the 700 block of Kettering Avenue.

Dario Stephon Johnson, 23, is charged with assault with intent to murder and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the shooting of a 24-year-old Pontiac man, and assault with a dangerous weapon in the shooting of a 17-year-old Pontiac man. Johnson, who was arraigned in 50th District Court, faces up to life in prison if convicted on the charges.

The 24-year-old and 17-year-old were hospitalized with gunshot wounds to the leg and back, respectively, after the shootings, which occurred late in the evening May 19. A third victim, Chris Stephens, 19, of Pontiac, was shot in the chest and died. The investigation into his death continues.

Police were called to the apartment complex on a report of a large fight with shots fired.
