Allen Park — The Lions were down a few players for their eighth of 10 organized team activities Tuesday -- the only one open to the media this week -- but defensive tackle Nick Fairley returned after sitting the first two weeks.
Fairley, who said last week he’s dropped 27 pounds this offseason, was noticeably slimmer and was rambunctious as usual during the 90-minute session.
Fairley’s playing weight last season was about 320 pounds. He says he weighs about 295 now.
Wide receivers Golden Tate and Kris Durham, safety James Ihedigbo, tight end Joseph Fauria and second-round linebacker Kyle Van Noy were all watching from the sideline after practicing during the first two weeks of OTAs. Running back Joique Bell (knee) and defensive end Ziggy Ansah (shoulder) continued to sit as well.
Cornerback Chris Houston (toe) was absent, as he has been since OTAs began. Fifth-round defensive tackle Caraun Reid also was absent because he’s in New Jersey graduating from Princeton.
Tate said he’s dealing with a minor shoulder injury, but ran routes on the sideline during practice. The other new injuries were unspecified.
In addition to Fairley, cornerback Chris Greenwood also returned to Tuesday’s practice after sitting the past two weeks. Wide receiver Kevin Ogletree was back after undergoing dental work last week.
