Body of missing swimmer found in Stony Creek Lake

Shelby Township — Authorities have identified the body recovered from Stony Creek Lake as Malcolm Robert Fairley, a 21-year-old Pontiac man who went missing on the lake on Sunday.

Members of the Macomb County Dive Team located the Fairley’s body at about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to Sheriff Anthony Wickersham.

According to Wickersham, the incident occurred at about 6 p.m. Sunday when the Pontiac man visiting Stony Creek Metropark jumped into the lake from a rented paddleboat.

According to his three companions, Fairley resurfaced then went under a second time and did not come up.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office was called to the park to assist the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority Police Department when the man could not be immediately located.
