Plumber pulled from collapsed hole in Warren

Warren — A plumber who was working outside in a 6-foot hole Thursday morning was injured when the walls caved in on him, police said.

The incident occurred about a 11 a.m. Thursday in the 30500 block of Iroquois, near 13 Mile and Schoenherr, Deputy Police Chief Louis Galasso said.

“His partner noticed the ground was starting to collapse around him,” Galasso said. “When he ascended to get out of the hole, it collapsed and buried him from the mid-chest down.”

The victim’s coworker was able to dig him out before a unit from the Warren Fire Department arrived. The responding unit took the man to St. John Hospital in Warren with a knee injury.
