B Spot is the latest hamburger haven in our area, and it isn’t alone. Burger chains such as Bagger Dave’s and Halo Burger have also expanded into Metro Detroit.
Here’s a list of some of our town’s favorite (and maybe a few under-the-radar) places to grab a burger and a beer.

Bagger Dave’s: This Midwest burger chain offers build-your-own burgers and loads of craft beer. The latest location, 20900 West Road in Woodhaven, opened on June 2. (734) 675-1880.
Cutter’s: Located in Eastern Market, Cutter’s serves up burgers in a variety of sizes, from 3 ounces to 32 ounces, as well as stuffs them with cheese. Don’t forget a side of hand-cut fries. 2638 Orleans, Detroit. (313) 393-0960.
Halo Burger: This Flint-based chain is one of the oldest in the state. Halo serves burgers, fries and soft drinks (no beer here), plus some extras like chicken sandwiches, hot dogs and tots. The newest Metro Detroit location is 47450 Grand River, Novi. (248) 662-0214.
Mallie’s Sports Grill & Bar: Between the all-you-can-eat seafood feast and the 10-pound monster burger, it’s all about quantity at Mallie’s. The downriver spot holds several records for the world’s biggest burger. Mason’s Bar & Grill: Fresh ingredients and a no-frills atmosphere are what make many folks say that Mason’s has one of the best bar burgers in town. 13490 Farmington, Livonia. (734) 427-0650.
Miller’s Bar: Another accoladed bar burger, Miller’s is simple and affordable. Closed Sundays. 23700 Michigan, Dearborn. (313) 565-2577.
Motor City Sports Bar: Probably the best burger in Hamtramck, this friendly Jos. Campau joint serves it up big and greasy, topped with chilled condiments. The cevapi (a Balkan meat dish) is good, too. 9122 Jos. Campau, Hamtramck. (313) 875-4710.
One-Eyed Betty’s: The bacon-topped Betty Burger is a delicious mess, and was the winner of the 2013 Eastern Market Burger Brawl. The hip spot also has a top-notch beer and whiskey list. 175 W. Troy, Ferndale. (248) 808-6633.
Red Coat Tavern: This restaurant’s Piedmontese burger with a variety of topping options is the stuff of dreams. The Royal Oak location (there’s one in West Bloomfield Township, too) has also been offering a massive imported and craft beer list since before it came into vogue. 31542 Woodward, Royal Oak.
