The Tigers and White Sox return to U.S. Cellular Field on Wednesday night following the washout of Tuesday night’s scheduled game.

First pitch is 8:10, on FSD and 97.1, 1270.

Some pregame notes:

■A makeup date for Tuesday’s postponement has not been yet announced. The Tigers and White Sox conclude their series on Thursday night, and then the Tigers begin a three-game home series against the Twins on Friday.

■Miguel Cabrera (hamstring) is the Tigers’ designated hitter again. He went 2-for-4 Monday night as the DH in the Tigers’ loss to the White Sox. Victor Martinez is at first base again for the Tigers.

■Cabrera’s homer Monday was the 377th of his career, tying him with former Tiger Norm Cash and Jeff Kent for 69th place in major-league history. Cabrera has 239 homers as a Tiger, tied for seventh place in team history with Rudy York.

■Wednesday’s starter, Justin Verlander, has struggled in recent starts but he has been outstanding against the White Sox. In his last 17 starts against the White Sox, since June 2009, Verlander is 13-3 with a 2.67 ERA and 108 strikeouts covering 128 innings.

■Drew Smyly was Wednesday’s probable starter before the rainout. His next start has been pushed back to Friday. Max Scherzer will face Chris Sale in the series finale against the White Sox.
