Week 11 MLB Power Rankings: A tribute to Mr. Padre, Tony Gwynn

Tony Paul goes around the league, with the 11th of his weekly Major League Baseball Power Rankings.

In honor of Tony Gwynn, the legendary Padres right fielder who passed away Monday at the age of 54 after a long battle with cancer, heres a look at just how consistently amazing Gwynn was during his Hall of Fame career.

1. Giants (last week: 1): In 229 games, Gwynn batted .351 with 10 homers and 112 RBIs against them.

2. As (2): In 10 games, Gwynn batted .395 with one home run and nine RBIs against them.

3. Brewers (4): In 13 games, Gwynn batted .472 with one home run and seven RBIs against them.

4. Blue Jays (3): Gwynn never played against them, but was a career .332 hitter with 40 RBIs in 92 games played in Canada. (For the record, he hit .467 in games in Mexico, and .308 in games in Hawaii.)

5. Tigers (5): Gwynn never faced them in the regular season, but had five hits and a steal in the 1984 World Series.

6. Cardinals (7): In 185 games, Gwynn batted .302 with nine home runs and 86 RBIs against them.

7. Angels (6): In 10 games, Gwynn batted .268 with no home runs and one RBI against them.

8. Braves (8): In 232 games, Gwynn batted .352 with 12 home run, 112 RBIs and 39 steals against them.

9. Orioles (9): Gwynn never played against them, but was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007 alongside Mr. Oriole, Cal Ripken Jr.

10. Dodgers (11): In 225 games, Gwynn batted .330 with 10 home runs, 90 RBIs and 32 steals against them.

11. Yankees (12): Gwynn never faced them in the regular season, but he batted .500 with one home run and three RBIs in the 1998 World Series.

12. Rangers (10): In nine games, Gwynn batted .355 with no home runs and two RBIs against them.

13. Royals (20): Gwynn never played against them, but alongside Mr. Royal, George Brett, probably was the best hitter of his time.

14. Pirates (13): In 185 games, Gwynn batted .339 with 17 home runs and 99 RBIs against them.

15. Indians (14): Gwynn never played against them, but was a career .355 hitter with 10 home runs and 62 RBIs in 116 games played in Ohio.

16. Nationals (16): In 178 games, Gwynn batted .316 with six home runs, 69 RBIs and 37 steals against the Expos.

17. Mariners (15): In 11 games, Gwynn batted .261 with no home runs and four RBIs against them.

18. Reds (22): In 233 games, Gwynn batted .332 with 17 home runs, 111 RBIs and 31 steals against them.

19. Red Sox (18): Gwynn never played against them, but late in his career became a great student -- and friend -- of Boston legend Ted Williams.

20. Marlins (19): In 45 games, Gwynn batted .305 with four home runs and 34 RBIs against them.

21. White Sox (17): Gwynn never played against them, but was a career .335 hitter with four home runs and 36 RBIs in 85 games played in Chicago.

22. Rockies (24): In 73 games, Gwynn batted .379 with five home runs and 35 RBIs against them.

23. Astros (25): In 235 games, Gwynn batted .355 with 12 home runs, 118 RBIs and 46 steals against them.

24. Twins (21): Gwynn never played against them, but evokes memories of Mr. Twin, Kirby Puckett, who also died way too young.

25. Padres (23): Gwynn forever will be known as Mr. Padre. He hit .300 or better in all but one of his 20 seasons in the major leagues.

26. Diamondbacks (27): In 32 games, Gwynn batted .268 with four home runs and 14 RBIs against them.

27. Mets (26): In 187 games, Gwynn batted .357 with 12 home runs and 90 RBIs against them.

28. Cubs (29): In 168 games, Gwynn batted .333 with seven home runs and 66 RBIs against them.

29. Phillies (28): In 180 games, Gwynn batted .346 with eight home runs and 79 RBIs against them.

30. Rays (30): Gwynn never played against them, but was a career .314 hitter in 40 interleague games.
