Michigan State's Caroline Powers to play in LPGA Tour's Marathon Classic

Michigan Stateís Caroline Powers and 2013 U.S. Curtis Cup team member Mariah Stackhouse have received sponsorís exemptions to the LPGA Tourís Marathon Classic, July 17-20 at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio, in suburban Toledo.

Powers graduated from MSU in 2013 and shortly after earned her Symetra Tour card and had two top-10 finishes in that tour this year. Stackhouse, 20, is a junior at Stanford. Two weeks ago in St. Louis, Stackhouse became the first African-American player to be selected to compete in the U.S. Curtis Cup.

Michelle Wie has also accepted an invitation to compete in the $1.4 million event.
