James Bourque, a 6-4, 180-pound right-handed pitcher from the University of Michigan, has signed a pro contract with the Washington Nationals organization. He was drafted by the Nationals in the 14th round earlier this month.

Bourque, who went to Ann Arbor Huron High, gives up his final year of college eligibility.

Bourque made 25 appearances for the Wolverines this season. He was 2-2 with a 4.24 earned-run average and had 33 strikeouts over 40.1 innings.

Bourque will report to the Nationals' Gulf Coast League team in Viera, Fla.
