MSU's Drummond, U-M's Funchess are Sporting News preseason first-team All-Americans

Michigan State safety Kurtis Drummond and Michigan receiver Devin Funchess have been named to the Sporting News preseason All-American first team.

Three other Spartans were recognized with preseason All-American honors: defensive end Shilique Calhoun (second team), running back Jeremy Langford (third team) and offensive lineman Jack Allen (third team).

Drummond, a senior from Ohio, was a coaches’ All-Big Ten first team performer in 2013. He was second on MSU’s team with a career-high 91 tackles.

Funchess, a junior from Farmington Hills Harrison, caught 49 passes for 748 yards and six TD in 2013, and was named top tight end in the Big Ten.
