Detroit police confiscate illegal fireworks from southwest store

Detroit police are cracking down on the sale of illegal fireworks as the July 4 holiday approaches.

Police conducted an investigation Thursday evening at a party store in the southwest part of the city on West Vernor.

Police found that the store was selling illegal fireworks, said Detroit police Sgt. Michael Woody. He did not immediately know the amount of fireworks or the kinds that were confiscated during the sweep.
