Detroit -- The Red Wings made qualifying offers Tuesday for seven restricted free agents.

Forwards Riley Sheahan, Tomas Tatar, Landon Ferraro, Mitch Callahan and Andrej Nestrasil, and defensemen Danny DeKeyser and Adam Almquist were qualified, and the Wings retain their rights.

Almquist, 23, who didn't want to play another season in the minor leagues, has signed a two-year contract with Severstal in the Russian Kontinental Hockey League.

By qualifying Almquist, the Red Wings retain their rights to him if he returns to play in North America.

Not qualified were forwards Cory Emmerton, Willie Coetzee and Trevor Parkes, and defensemen Gleason Fournier and Max Nicastro.

Emmerton, 26, spent most of last season in Grand Rapids and also has signed to play in the KHL next season with Sochi. Emmerton was a 2006 second-round draft pick by Detroit.
