* Victor Martinez was in Brad Ausmus’ original lineup but was scratched after batting practice. Martinez has a minor side ailment. He was replaced by J.D. Martinez.

* Austin Jackson is batting ninth in Monday night’s lineup – just the second time he has hit No. 9 in his career. The first time was in May 1, 2011 against the Indians. He went 2-for-3 with a walk in that 5-4 Tigers loss.

* Jackson is hitting .244 on the season with a .310 on-base percentage. His career averages are .275 hitting and .340 on-base. Jackson has also struck out 61 times in 73 games in 2014.

* On April 21, Anibal Sanchez was 0-2 with a 3.54 ERA. Since then he has gone 5-0 with four no-decisions and has lowered his ERA to 2.64.
