BTN.com senior writer Tom Dienhart says Michigan State’s offensive backfield, with QB Connor Cook and RB Jeremy Langford, is the second-best in the Big Ten, trailing Penn State, while Michigan ranks 11th.
Dienhart on the Spartans: “Cook was a revelation last season, emerging early on to become one of the top signal-callers in the nation. And just think: He has two years of eligibility left. No one saw Langford rushing for 1,422 yards last season.”
Michigan ranked 11th among 12 teams in rushing offense in the Big Ten last season, averaging 125.7 yards per game.
Dienhart on the Wolverines: “QB Devin Gardner teems with talent and has looked spectacular at times. He needs more consistency and can’t force things. Running back was a sore spot last season. Yes, a struggling line was an issue. But better play is needed behind Gardner, beginning with Derrick Green. Keep an eye on De’Veon Smith.”
