Free-agent guard Ben Gordon has reached agreement on a two-year, $9 million contract with the Magic, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The second year of the deal is reportedly a team option that needs to be guaranteed by Orlando before July 1, 2015, a source told Yahoo Sports.

The Magic is working to improve its perimeter shooting and expect Gordon to be a value signing to complement the young backcourt of Elfrid Payton Jr. and Victor Oladipo.

Gordon, 31, played part of the past season with Charlotte before being waived. In 10 seasons with Chicago, Detroit and Charlotte, Gordon has averaged 15.6 points.

He was the NBA’s sixth man of the year in 2005 with the Bulls.

The Magic also signed both its first-round picks — Aaron Gordon, No. 4 overall, and Payton, the No. 10 pick whom the Magic acquired in a draft night trade with the 76ers.

Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Both players will participate in the Orlando Summer Pro League, which begins Saturday.
