Romulus — A would-be airline traveler was arrested Sunday morning at the TSA checkpoint in Detroit Metro Airport after agents found “an artfully concealed knife” inside the passenger’s shoe.
TSA agents found the knife hidden in the bottom lining of the male passenger’s shoe at 7:22 a.m. Sunday, prompting Wayne County Airport police to arrest him and take possession of the weapon, according to TSA spokesman Michael McCarthy.
“Knives and most other sharp objects are prohibited in carry-on luggage; these items should be placed in checked baggage,” McCarthy said.
Travelers are asked to visit TSA.gov or download the MyTSA app, where they can find details on prohibited items in the “Can I bring my…” section.
