Detroit police arrest man accused of fatally shooting ex-wife

Detroit A man fatally shot his ex-wife after an argument turned violent on Sunday on the citys southwest side, according to police.

The two were arguing on Sunday in the 4700 block of Braden, when the 45-year-old man pulled out a handgun and shot his ex-wife, 55, multiple times in the chest, Sgt. Michael Woody said.

The man fled but was apprehended and arrested by Detroit police officers who also recovered the weapon.

In another homicide over the Fourth of July Holiday weekend, police were called at 3:10 p.m. for a reported shooting in the 1000 block of East Lafayette.

Upon arrival, officers found the driver and passenger of a green Chevrolet Tahoe with gunshot wounds to the head.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. EMS rushed the passenger to Detroit Receiving Hospital, where doctors pronounced the victim dead on arrival.

A witness told police two male suspects fled the scene in a brown, 4-door vehicle possibly a Lincoln or a Grand Marquis.

One suspect is described as 5-feet to 5-feet-2-inches tall, wearing a red T-shirt and black-and-red shorts.
