Bryan Murray, former Red Wings coach and general manager, has been diagnosed with cancer, the Ottawa Senators announced Monday. Murray is GM and president of the Senators.
“Mr. Murray is undergoing further testing and will begin treatment immediately for this condition as prescribed by the team’s doctors in collaboration with specialists,” the Senators said in statement.
Murray, 71, became the Red Wings’ coach and GM in 1990. He was replaced as coach by Scotty Bowman in 1993 but stayed on as GM for an additional season.
