R3 Kids literacy program to start this week

Reading & Rhythm on the Riverfront, a summer literacy program for children ages 3-10, will begin with two sessions at 11 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Rivard Plaza, 1340 Atwater, Detroit.

The program, also known as R3, is presented by the GM Foundation and hosted by the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy. It introduces the joy of reading through live entertainment; stories read by local celebrities, business and community leaders; free book giveaways provided by the Detroit Public Library’s Library on Wheels; and rides on the Cullen Family Carousel.

R3 will take place every Thursday and Friday through Aug. 15. For information, visit detroitriverfront.org.
