Annual kids fishing day set in Southfield

The Farmington/Farmington Hills and Southfield Optimist Clubs will sponsor the sixth annual Kids Fishing Day on July 26 at the Carpenter Lake Nature Preserve on 10 Mile, east of Inkster in Southfield.

Children ages 4-11 and parents will learn different techniques and practice casting a fishing rod, and catching and releasing a fish, during one of three, two-hour sessions (9-11 a.m., 10 a.m.-noon. and 11 a.m.-1 p.m.)

Each child will be given a rod, reel and tackle box in addition to a snack, instructions and time to fish, all for a $20. There is a limit of 20 kids per session.
