Dearborn Heights The search for an elderly woman with dementia had a happy ending Wednesday afternoon when she was found sitting at a bus stop after spending the night in the woods at Hines Park.
According to police, Judith Gonzales, 75, walked away from Garden City Hospital at about 2:30 p.m. Monday. Gonzales, described as being 4-foot-11, has dementia and was without her medication.
She was recovered by Dearborn Heights police shortly after 1 p.m. near Inkster and Warren roads, according to Garden City Police Lt. Michael Tackett.
She had spent the night in the woods and was disoriented, Tackett said. She came out of the woods and sat down on a bench on a bus stop. Someone checked on her and then called the Dearborn Heights police. They determined she was our missing and they took her to the hospital where she is undergoing medical treatment.
