The Lions' pre-training camp roster churn continued Friday as the team was awarded wide receiver Reese Wiggins off waivers.
The New England Patriots signed Wiggins as an undrafted free agent out of East Carolina this year but waived him Thursday.
To make room for Wiggins, the Lions cut veteran receiver Naaman Roosevelt, who hasn't played in an NFL game since 2011 with the Buffalo Bills.
Wiggins is 5-foot-10 and 181 pounds, and he had 26 catches for 372 yards and four touchdowns for the Pirates last season. He also ran a 4.37-second 40-yard dash during his pro day in March and participated in the Super Regional Combine at Ford Field in April.
Wiggins will compete for one of the last receiver spots in training camp, but is a candidate for the practice squad, too.
Offensive tackle J.B. Shugarts, waived by the Lions on Thursday, went unclaimed.
