Detroit — It was ready, set, go Monday in downtown Detroit as executives and other employees from six companies opened the third annual Live Downtown Games.
Opening ceremonies in Campus Martius Park included an obstacle course run. Competitors also raced each other on inflatable slides and horses, and volleyball and table tennis events were scheduled too.
The games celebrate the anniversary of Live Downtown. The five-year, more-than-$4 million program aims to increase density by offering financial incentives to people who work downtown to invest in homes in nearby neighborhoods. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Compuware, DTE Energy, Marketing Associates, Quicken Loans and Strategic Staffing Solutions are taking part in the event.
The games, held during lunch hours and after the end of the work day, run through Friday.
