■ Manager Brad Ausmus mixed up his lineup for the Tigers’ series finale against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Ian Kinsler is hitting third, Miguel Cabrera fourth and Victor Martinez fifth.
■ The Tigers are trying to earn a series win in a rubber match against the Diamondbacks. Detroit won 4-3 on Monday night, then fell 5-4 on Tuesday.
■ Anibal Sanchez, Wednesday’s Tigers starter, took the loss in his previous start, a 9-3 defeat at the hands of Cleveland. He allowed four runs on six hits in six innings.
■ Torii Hunter and Austin Jackson each have five-game hitting streaks for the Tigers. Hunter is hitting .381 (24-for-63) with five home runs and 20 runs batted in over the last 16 games.
